This is the Toyota 86, but not just any Toyota 86. This is a 2012 Toyota 86 powered by a spanking Nissan GT-R R35 engine which was tuned to insanity. Why would anyone do this!? Well, why not!?
Starting its life just like a plain Toyota 86 with a puny small two-liter engine giving out 200 hp, this machine had a lot of reasons to look for something more preposterous. First, its FA20 engine was tuned to 545 hp, but, obviously, that was not enough for the guys who wanted something truly insane. R35 engine seems like a perfect match – it is not that large, it has six cylinders and it is not insanely hard to come by. The result is this machine which barely swallowed the 3.8-liter GT-R engine with displacement increased to 4.1-liter. The engine received a massive turbocharger – GT1000 HKS Symmetrical Turbine kit. With it, the power went up considerably, but the power had to be kept in check with the integration of the new cooling system, new air intakes and far more comprehensive drivetrain layout. The differentials are changed, dry sump system integrated and then the transmission was all replaced – no wonder there.
The new transmission is a sequential unit with the air-powered paddle shifter kit meaning this thing will drift its life on the track. Really, what else would you expect of a Toyota 86 to do after such comprehensive mods. And yes, this thing looks the business. Just have a look under the hood. It looks better than in some sports cars. And the exterior is all spiced up with stuff like awesome decals and wonderful white wheels. We wonder what it could do on a track. It will slash some tires for sure.
