The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo sings a swan song. In November this year, Mitsubishi officially stated that they are going to end the production of this legendary vehicle next year (o.pa. 2015). However, Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president Don Swearingen said before that Mitsubishi will produce a special version which will celebrate the existence of this amazing rally car. That day has come and Mitsubishi revealed the newest and baddest Lancer Evolution X of all times.
The car will be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show early next year and the one that will be shown is officially named the Lancer Evolution X Final Concept. Yes, it is a concept for now, but we are sure that basically the same car will be available for sale during the next year. We guess that the production will be limited, which will make this Evo more exclusive than any before.
There is a lot of new stuff on this car. The Body Kit has been enhanced, Mitsubishi revealed a whole new matte black paint for it, while that famous rear spoiler has been reworked also.
Most important modifications can be found under the bonnet. The famous two liter engine was thoroughly reworked. Mitsubishi installed a HKS turbocharger, new ECU, new intake and whole new exhaust. These modifications enabled the small four cylinder to develop a mind boggling 480 HP. With a four wheel drive and a five speed manual gearbox, we recon that this Mitsubishi can easily accelerate to 62 in less than 4 seconds. The maximum speed is probably limited to 140 mph (or something like that).
Unfortunately, we do not know when will Mitsubishi reveal a production version, but this one will be shown on the Tokyo Motor Show which starts on 9th January 2015.
