It’s all bout fuel economy, saving the planet and going green…these are the things that car manufacturers are focusing on today. Almost every car company has at least one eco-car in their line ups. Assumption of their performance always gets into the heads of buyers that eco-means boring and petrol-means power. Mercedes will try to change your perception of these cars as they introduce the Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell.
This car is muscled by a lithium ion battery set to 48 kWh, this will send its power to 4 independent electric motors synchronized to give massive power. The combined power output of its motors will give 526 bhp with 649 lb ft of torque. This can let the E-Cell car detonate from 0-100 km/h in just 4 seconds…this is just 0.2 seconds slower than the petrol powered Merc!
Few design cues has changed all over its body. This now has a wider radiator grill, LED headlights, a more aggressive rear diffuser and a revised hood. This also has a unique extendable splitter which actually moves 7cm downward when it reaches speeds of more than 120 km/h and features a limited 10 spoke light alloy wheel.
Mercedes just gave another example of their milestone with the SLS AMG E-Cell and this is set for production in 2013.
