Here it is and it is fantastical, unmistakably, incredibly epic. This is the Mercedes-AMG GT R and if there ever were a car promotional video that will get your blood pumping then it is this one (we remember that one from the Giulia Q as well). Crafted as the most hard-core Mercedes-AMG GT to date, the GT R has some really unique features. First of, it comes with rear wheel steering. It continues with the four-liter V8, but for this version, AMG uprated its power to 585 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This is a considerable power up over the GT S. 74 hp & 37 lb-ft to be precise.
Other improvements include suspension tweaks, a rather awesome body-kit with much more pronounced air intakes and carbon fiber rear spoiler. These improvements changed the aero characteristics of the car adding a bit more downforce and making the GT R look a bit more sinister – especially with the centrally mounted exhausts.
A keen eye can spot a convex front grille which looks a bit like the one from the 300 SL. AMG GT R has a lot of history to draw from.
And then there is the video. This beast can accelerate to 62 mph in 3,6 seconds and hit 198 mph. It sounds fantastic which probably was the whole theme of the video in which Lewis Hamilton drives round the ‘Ring like he is in Green Hell. And in a matter of speak, he is – the color on the car is called Green Hell Magno. Cool
Now, we are not exactly sure which video is better – the one with Lewis Hamilton or the actual presentation. Worth watching for sure.
