Let’s just stop ourselves for a moment from looking at breathtaking supercars or tuned-to-madness beasts and let’s see what Dodge has to offer to a practical and on the go city person. This is the new 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, though a lot of people consider this as a boring piece of metal with wheels, this minivan offers a lot of things. Chrysler claims that this will perform with the same driving dynamics and capability of a sedan giving it a bit more of an attitude and an edge to its competition.
The Dodge Grand Caravan will come in 4 trim models the Express, Mainstreet, Crew and the top of the line R/T model. All of its models are powered by the same engine, the legendary Pentastar 3.6 liter V6 of Dodge which pumps 283 bhp and with a peak torque of 260 lb ft. The heart of this minivan is paired to a 6 speed automatic transmission and features a Fuel Economizer mode that adjusts the timing of its gear shifts reducing fuel consumption.
The interior is a totally refreshed cabin offering softer seats and better door trims. To improve ride comfort, this has a retuned suspension adjusting its spring rate and installing upgraded bushings and dampers. Steering feel and handling was also improved for better driving satisfaction.
Chrysler claims that their R/T model will be a “Man Van” and aimed for the male car segment in giving them a thrilling ride on a minivan…and hopefully it will happen.
