Ford celebrates 51 years of existence of their beloved Mustang and in order to create the biggest birthday party ever they had to create a quite astonishing version of it. The Shelby GT350 is certainly one of them but Ford is not finished with updating the car yet. Now, they are looking to improve the already wonderful machine and in order to report their progress to the community of the car lovers they’ve revealed this video showing the car on the track and on the road.
This is one of the best Mustangs to date. It features some astonishing stuff including things like the flat plane crank, sport tuned suspension, 5.2 liter V8 engine churning out 500 HP and, as Ford technicians revealed, a Magnetorheological dampers capable of enhancing driving characteristics considerably. Making a fine adjustments to the car suspension and stiffness, Magnetorheological dampers are capable of preparing the car for the drive on the track and than, in an instant (at a touch of a button), the suspension can be altered to suit the needs of the roads.
Testing was done on the Virginia international Raceway in Virginia, where Ford created a new suspension layout that enhanced the way the car steers, rides and handles. Dave Harmison, Vehicle Dynamics Development Engineer at Ford said “the new GT350 will have a BWY MagneRide dampers on all four corners which gives us a lot of opportunity, some very interesting things with the way the car steers and ride and handles.”
Testing the prototype, Ford engineers will enhance much of the driving characteristics on the Mustang which has independent suspension, incredible steering and possibly the best new naturally aspirated engine out there. This one could hurt the Europeans where it hurts the most – in the corners.
