As far as sedans go, the Tesla Model S P100 D is the quickest of them all. It would seem the latest car from the Tesla Motors is all rigged up for the drag racing. With a four wheel drive, two motors, massive battery pack and a Ludicrous mode as standard, the car became the fastest four door saloon car in history. Not even the newest Merc AMG E63 S or the latest BMW M5 F10 could touch it in a drag race.
To prove the point, out man from the DragTimes drove a car to Palm Beach International Raceway and had it race the awesome 650hp Corvette Z06 down the 1/4 mile. The results are astonishing. The sports car could only keep up with the Model S after it reached a certain speed. On the other hand, the ‘vette simply could not match the launch Tesla Model S P100D is capable of. It is estimated that the Tesla made a launch hitting 60 mph in 2.52 seconds and continued to accelerate all the way to 122.67 mph when it was clocked at the finish line. The time was 10.79. Astonishing. This, however, is not the fastest pass the Tesla Model S P100D can make. The guy from the DragTimes tested to see what was the quickest time it can achieve and Tesla finally finished the race in a freaking 10.76 seconds. Amazing.
The car can do it thanks to a 503hp rear motor and 259 hp front motor. Working together, these two can launch a 4,980 lbs car to a speed in an instant and simply trash anything of the line. Despite weighing almost 1,500 lbs less, the ‘Vette simply did not stand a chance. We would like to see what would happen if someone stripped out all the unnecessary stuff from the Tesla and make it as light as possible.
