Ken Block came to the UK just to try out the newest badass Ford Focus – the RX. This is a car that competes at the World Rallycross stage and while the RX is actually already competing, this video is a throwback to April when Ken had the opportunity to try out the machine for the first time.
And a machine it is. Ford built it all for the Rallycross season, so it has an all wheel drive, magnificent large coolers on the inside, low weight, the fantastic low center of gravity, enormous aero bits and bobs and an engine that can push it to 62 mph in two seconds. OK, every other Rallycross car has similar stuff, but the Ford Focus RS-RX somehow looks the business. Its 650hp engine screams in every moment.
The car was built in the UK by the M-Sport team. They have built a number of cars for Ken Block and the newest one is created together with the Hoonigan team and Ford Performance. The amount of work that went into making one of these machines is staggering. First, Ford ships the chassis to the UK, then the welding process starts and every part is secured in accordance with FIA standards. Also, the engine and the sheer insanity of its AWD and suspension are the main reasons why Ford is getting rather nice results at the World Rallycross championship. They’ve entered the final stages of two of three races up to this point.
All in all, the car they have is a blast and Ken Block tries it out on the track making every turn count in a perfectly executed drift.
