Lapping the Ring with a sports car is not easy. But lapping the Ring with a Mini driving on two wheels is not only difficult but insane as well. Please bask in the greatness of a Mini and its crazy Chinese stunt driver who lapped 12.93 miles of the Nurburgring driving on two side wheels. Yes, we have seen a number of efforts like this, but doing it on a twisty race track with some major hills, elevations and chicanes is next to incredible.
The Mini he used is largely a stock unit. Sure, the suspension had to be slightly reinforced. Plus the car received a full roll cage, race seats, and race harnesses. It was absolutely necessary. Sure, it had special solid tires too. No ordinary tires could last this long.
The lap he made is possibly the slowest lap ever recorded at the Nurburgring. Mini needed freaking 45 minutes to complete the lap, but that was to be expected as the car had to be driven rather slowly for everything to pan out well and remain as safe as possible. Nurburgring official Facebook page live streamed the whole event with 8.000 people tuning in to watch at one point in time.
All in all, this is an effort soon to be broken by some other crazy stunt driver on some other track in some other time. However, let us celebrate this guy and the Mini who succeeded in a mission of driving a car for freaking 13 miles on only two side wheels. We cannot even imagine how hard and energy consuming this must have been. Just imagine focusing as hard for so long. Astonishing.
