After winning 2 Dakar Rally Challenges and having the title of the first diesel powered SUV to win the event, the Volkswagen Race Touareg 2 have finally retired. Volkswagen is not stopping their chain of success but this is to give way to a more performance based rally car, the 2011 Volkswagen Race Touareg 3.
This rally car comes with an all new body work made up of Kevlar and carbon fiber. This has a 2.4 liter twin turbocharged diesel engine that can create a massive 442 lb ft of torque. This can detonate from 0-62 mp/h in 6.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 117mp/h…and this is under any road conditions!
Of course this car will not look like any Touareg in your local car dealership but it is still good to know that this SUV is capable of being the best on the most torturous car race in the world. The race will take off by January next year and will take place in Chile and Argentina with an estimated distance covering 5000 miles. This Touareg is already ready to get fast and dirty and claim its throne back again.
