We did not expect this thing. Really, we did not despite a myriad of interesting teasers and spy photos getting to the media. This is the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime and the picture you see reveals that it is far different from anything we have ever seen before under the Prius designation.
If you like, you can call it a sporty Prius because it is created to entice buyers to think more about sport and excitement and less about saving fluffy polar bears. Toyota did steer quite a bit from the standard designing form. The front is sharper, more conventional compared to the standard Prius and the back received a rather surprising Sci-Fi like form. All in all, the Prius Prime is not a beautiful car, but it is far more appealing than anything we have seen before from Prius. Apart from the major designer step up from the current philosophy, the Prius Prime has become a plug-in Hybrid with the best yet characteristics.
Its batteries provide 8.8 kWh of power which is enough for 25 miles all electric range. Furthermore, a more powerful electric motor enables it to achieve 84 mph solely on electric power – which was just a dream in previous cars. However, real life fuel efficiency was allegedly improved. With this much all-electric range, Toyota reported that the Prius Prime can cover more distance on a single charge than fifty percent of US drivers need for a day. This is quite impressive, to say the least. Enjoy the Prius we all secretly wanted to happen.
Yes, it looks a bit like a fancy Honda and it lost some of the quirkiness, but it should attract a wider audience for sure.
