Russians have a strange taste for everything and it is not any different when it comes to cars. Bigger is better, so SUVs are the way of life for many living in larger cities, although we have to point out that suburbs and smaller cities are not living such a profound and rich life like some people in urban areas. For them, Lada, Daewoo, Dacia and some other are a way of life and when it comes to tuning these cars, this is what happens – a Daewoo Matiz with 20-inch Vossen wheels. The car is so small its original architecture simply cannot support the wheels of this size. Originally, it came to the streets with 13-inch wheels, so fitting 20 inches is a tough job. To make it so, builders had to imagine something far more comprehensive than just putting a pair of wheels spacers. The whole suspension was widened by adding new elements which measure up to 14 inches on each side. This is huge, but it certainly helped a lot. Now, wheels are basically outside wheel arches and the Daewoo Matiz looks more like some animated car created for some crazy dude and not like a car you could use daily.
Nevertheless, this is a rather impressive feat and creation showing all the spirit and ingenuity of its builders. We are not sure if the engine remained the same, but the rest of the car looks more or less stock and unmodified. If the engine is original then imagine a 0.8-liter petrol engine developing 51 hp. Crossover looking Matiz certainly has charisma we did not expect it to have. We’d drive it.
