SUVs took the world by a storm. Buyers of luxury cars shifted their attention to luxury SUVs and car manufacturers had enough time to create some really insane and incredible sporty SUVs such as these three. Top Gear, trying to win back customer satisfaction took three of the most amazing SUVs – the Range Rover Sport, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and put them in a drag race.
As a refresher, we’ll tell you that the Range Rover Sport has a five liter supercharged V8 engine giving out more than 550hp. It has an all wheel drive and a lot of weight. The other monster is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo giving out more or less the same power output as the Range Rover. The third SUV, on the other hand, is very different. It is not as advanced and it even has a naturally aspirated engine. That, however, does not mean it is not fast enough. It is, but it couldn’t do anything against the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. It almost caught the Range Rover Sport, yet it fell short.
Of course, the Jeep Grand Cherokee can be tuned to some incredible power levels for some money. In that case, with close to 600hp or 700hp, the Grand Cherokee SRT would be easily powerful enough to win in this amazing race not rated at more than 1.500hp.
And yes, the Grand Cherokee is far less pricy than any of its competitors. We cannot wait for the Hellcat-powered machine to come to the market. It will be a blast.
