Tesla Model S P90D has already proven its drag race worthiness. It is a badass, expensive car with the power of a supercar and if you just search P90D on YouTube numerous videos will pop up where this car slashes everything from a GT-R to a Porsche or a Lambo. Now, however, we are seeing it in a race against the Ferrari California and a white van. Ok, this is not just any white van but the one called Edna. That certainly does not reveal much, but keep on reading because under the rather uninspiring Mercedes Van body sits quite a monstrous propulsion system. LS engine? GT-R engine? Or even an AMG engine? No way! A company who created the car – Atieva used two massive electric motors, “two sets of power electronics, two gearboxes, one battery capable of storing 87 kWh of energy and outputting over 900 horsepower, plus all of the software to make the components play nicely together.”
The result is a van so powerful it can beat a Ferrari and even the Tesla Model S.
What is rather worrying here is that the Ferrari – California T which is a FAST car – is more or less obsolete. Think about it. It is obsolete in a race between a Van and a four-door sedan. What will happen when we see a propped only electric supercar. Rimac built its One and that only electric car can accelerate to 186 mph in smashing 14,2 seconds. Strange times are ahead of us.
