While we are waiting for the next Bugatti installment called the Chiron, many European car enthusiasts are trying to get just the right picture of its prototype and source out any possible information about it. Latest in the series of videos showing the Bugatti Chiron prototypes was probably filmed somewhere in Germany, but all the hype about it is not even the half of the story. The film shows two (yes, two which is a lot) Chiron prototypes followed by the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Bugatti Veyron SS, the Lamborghini Huracan and the BMW i8. Now, that is a crowd all of us would like to hang out with.
The Chiron, as you probably know, will be the successor of the mighty Bugatti Veyron. In order to make it possible for the Chiron to fill in such big shoes, Bugatti had to recreate the whole thing with new technology, better suspension, lightweight materials, new looks and, of course, a more powerful engine. Not that Bugatti is going to reinvent the engine, but to reach 1.500hp the Volkswagen group will rework the eight-liter W16 engine, probably garnish it with more radiators, integrate higher capacity turbochargers and improve all the necessary parts. For now, no one is talking about any form of hybrid drive. The only mentioned engine is a reworked quad turbo engine monstrous enough to make the Veyron accelerate to 62 mph in 2,3 seconds and make it reach a top speed of more than 270 mph. Some even say the Veyron will be able to top out at 280 mph which is a bit disturbing.
The car will be much different than the Veyron. 500 units are scheduled for production and we can expect it introduced in 2016.
