Oldsmobile Cutlass is like a perfect Eighties car. This one is powered by a 516 Ci Chevy V8 engine running on pure alcohol. And yes, see that mega blower (24 pounds boosts). It will get a whole lot of air to the engine when gas is pressed. Actually, with all this ramped up to maximum it will get up to 1.650hp. Powerglide transmission making the power reach the wheels.
This Cutlass plays in the Small Tire league. So, the massive power of 1.650hp is transferred to 275 tires at the back. Not exactly perfect, but these are the rules and that is just the way it is. Now, while you may fast forward to the time when the car is hitting the drag strip, we honestly encourage you to watch the whole thing. Burnouts like this are stupendous and definitely worth watching. Also, get that volume up and try to hear the whine of a supercharger.
Oldsmobile Cutlass is not exactly the most obvious car to do this kind of mods on it, but it clearly works awesome.
The main story here is not actually about all that power and all that grunt the engine can give, but about the physics happening right where the small tires meet the surface. Just imagine how hard it is for tires as small as this to cope with all that power and to transfer as much of it to the ground. Power is certainly good enough even for far bigger tires, but this is more interesting for sure.
