Making a dragster in the US that will fight American muscle cars is almost an impossible task. The engines those old American behemoths usually use are insanely large in displacement. However, advanced technology can give us something to rig up our low displacement engines, The “imports” can fight the muscle with a little bit of help. This is the Mazda RX-8 and it is unlike any other you have ever seen.
While the RX-8 is the latest rotary powered machine on the planet, that did not stop enthusiasts from making some really special mods to it. The rotary engines, insane turbochargers and some special fuel powers this particular RX-8 to some insane speed. The setup churns out 1.670 hp and enables the RX-8 to enter the big league. Enormous Radial tires at the back promise passes unseen before by rotary powered cars. If we are to believe all what we have heard about the thing, the power of the massively modified car grants 6 second passes. Now, that is some serious *hit right there. 6 second pass is almost unachievable for a low displacement engine, yet the Wankel principle taught us that power can be available in small packages.
Aside from the power, this particular RX-8 tips the scales at 2500 lbs – less than the Ford Fiesta ST. And yes, the last, but not the least – listen to it! This thing sounds like it is going to tear up the whole world into pieces.
