This is awesome, so awesome in fact that we want to do it right away. As our host, Alex pointed out, guys at the Yachiho Lake in Nagano Prefecture, Japan are practicing high-speed drifting at walking speed pace. The guys took their cars to a frozen lake, created an awesome track on it and drifted to insanity with speeds never exceeding a few mph.
While it may seem a bit dull and uninspiring at first, drifting at slow speeds soon becomes really interesting. No one can be hurt, the cars will not get damaged too much and the guys drifting get to learn a thing or two about drifting (not like this).
As this place is a part of a national park, there are some logical restrictions. First of all, all the cars need to have stock exhausts and no one can come here with studded tires – only classic winter tires can do.
Intensity fully comes into play when two cars drift only a few inches apart. The drivers have to make slight adjustments and drive really carefully not to touch or crash into another car. What is even more amazing is the fact that even girls come here with cars and practice their drifting skills – with a lot of smiles of course.
