The new Dodge Viper definitely is an amazing vehicle, but the US company just released the most hardcore version of it yet, and with it they’ve demonstrated once again just how astonishing their cars can be. The Dodge Charger Hellcat and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat (here with the Viper in Absolutely insane tv show) undeniably represent a big comeback of the American musclecar, but the Viper has always been something totally different. The distinctiveness of the Viper (look at this tuned beast) is accentuated once again with the unveiling of the car whose characteristics are better suited for the track car than for the roadworthy vehicle.
“The Viper has always been more of a street-legal race car than a track-capable streetcar, and the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is the fastest street-legal Viper track car ever,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and Chief Executive Officer – Dodge Brand and SRT Brand, FCA – North America. “Our goal is to arm our enthusiasts with the ultimate Viper track car to dominate road courses around the world.”
Main highlights include the integration of special aerodynamic package which provides the Mustang with “the highest aerodynamic downforce of any production car”. We are talking about 1 ton of downforce at 177 mph. Apart from giving the car an enormous rear wing, every single part of the outside has been adjusted for track use and for maximum downforce. The specialties include different distribution of weight balance. Now, the Viper ACR has 50:50 weight distribution due to special weight saving measures which include removal of many creature comforts and use of special carbon ceramic brakes and special wheels. Luckily, the engine stayed the same, which means, the Viper ACR is powered by a 8,4 liter V10 developing massive 645 HP.
