What would a perfect car review look like!? Would you like supercar comparisons, an epic SUV clash, or just a plain simple hot-hatchback kill off. Everyone has their own favourite, but all of the car world should and definitely would enjoy the clash Evo Magazin from the UK made on a gravel rally test stage where they put a Polaris buggy, a WRC Ford, a Tuthill-built Safari Rally-spec Porsche 911, an Ariel Nomad, and a Bowler race truck one against another. The results are next to incredible.
These are all specialty machines built for tackling harsh rally terrain, yet only one of them – the Ariel Nomad is actually available for purchase straight from the showroom floor and comparing it with exceptional racing cars specially built for rally stages is definitely a praise no other road legal car could receive.
Evo team gathered the cars at the Walters Arena in Wales where the testing begun. Of course, the answer to the question who is better is impossible to give as all of the cars on the stage were simply sublime in their own way. However, for us, testing of the full on rally car – the Ford Fiesta WRC is probably the highlight of it all. All in all, Evo had a chance to test out everything from the RWD Safari Porsche, to a modern WRC car and even awesome Defender based Bowler Race truck with an engine worth 400hp. We would like to try all of this out.
Now, we could ask for even more insane off road cars – especially those from the Group B rally segment of the Eighties, but we have to say that this truly is as close to rally driving nirvana as it gets.
