Fisker Karma had the looks, no question there. It was a cool breeze of fresh air on the market with those wide hips, cool low slung profile and rather captivating front. However, this car was not exactly a brainchild of experienced engineers and that resonated with the car more than anything else. Apart from poor quality, poor building standards and questionable materials on the inside, the Fisker Karma had more than a few fatal flaws. This Jalopnik video nicely sums up a few of them starting with the appalling fact that the exhaust of the two liter engine is just behind the front wheel. Nothing bad about that (some other cars have it there too), but the exhaust fumes from this one go directly to the cabin. So if you stop at the red light with the window rolled down you may suffocate.
Other major problem is the lack of refinement and the lack of high-end finish this car certainly deserves. While it drives nice and precise it does not provide any engaging feedback, the mpg values aren’t as near as good as Fisker claimed and now,, with the company completely gone, it is a bit of a let down.
True, this is still a striking car and some may like it, but its owners and drivers probably will not.
