The Hyundai Veloster isn’t exactly the most popular car in the world. The Americans are buying it just enough to keep it in the production, but Hyundai doesn’t really make big bucks out of it. However, the car is certainly one of the most astonishing Korean cars that ever existed. With three doors for passengers (one on one side and two on the other), the Hyundai Veloster is a unique expression of the freedom of the automotive industry of today.
Even such, Veloster is well known, but the real car enthusiasts want it to be a bit more sporty, more aggressive and more like the Hyundai Coupe of today.
So, in order to produce an astonishingly lucrative Hyundai Veloster, South Korean Hyundai engineers went berserk. First of all, they’ve created a two door car, removed the engine from the front, created a stiff roll cage inside, put the engine mid back and connected it with the absolutely reworked back wheels. The result is a mid engine, a RWD Veloster which looks feels and acts absolutely different from anything you thought possible.
Dubbed the Hyundai RM15 Concept, the car was revealed at the Seoul Motor Show and Hyundai revealed a rather interesting video of it on YouTube. It seems that this Veloster shows the new sporty direction the whole Hyundai marketing team is looking to explore and the RM15 is just the first step in the process. The car is powered by a two liter turbocharged engine developing insane 300 HP. With such power the RM15 Concept is certainly capable of some extraordinary racing feats and we are quite curious what we can expect next from Hyundai.
It may be that the Hyundai RM15 Concept grows into a full fledged two door sporty Veloster, but we cannot be certain of it. All in all, a new dawn broke for the Hyundai and Veloster is one of the first cars to show it to us.
