A good thing about Internet-enabled cars is the fact that they receive updates. Not all, but some. Cars are becoming just like phones. Companies are updating the software, the Infotainment and what not just by sending the owners a data package over the Internet. This is a huge deal and it seems Tesla Motors is taking maximum advantage of it. They have been improving and updating their cars over the Internet for years and to prove the point that this thing works, we have one small, simple, but effective presentation.
The video below shows just how important can Internet updates be. See, the Tesla Model X had a whole lot of problems with falcon doors. Some of them, some not and some are just fed up because they cannot use them as normal doors. Nevertheless, Tesla Motors is doing all it can to improve them and the latest update v8.0 enabled important new capabilities. The falcon doors on the Tesla Model X are not particularly fast. After many complaints, the engineers and programmers figured out they can considerably improve the speed.
As demonstrated in the video, the doors are now faster to open and to close with improved closing time by 22 percent and opening time by 26 percent. This is a considerable improvement for sure.
Apart from that, the v8.0 received an Autopilot update and Cabin Overheat Protection update. These two are important – one because of safety and the other because of comfort. The Autopilot update makes even more use of integrated sensors when driving in Autopilot mode. On the other hand, Cabin Overheat Protection system jacks up the air con automatically every time the temperature hits 105 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) in the cabin.
