The Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Gallardo have so many similarities it is hard to think of these two cars as different entities. The R8 is more or less, just the “poor people’s Gallardo”, but it has a mid-engine layout, all wheel drive, launch control system, similar size, similar weight and a rather incredible V10 engine in its top notch version. With a bit of tuning this mighty engine (the same as in the Gallardo) can get a serious power output.
Just how sick can it get is best shown in this magnificent drag race between the ESS supercharged Audi R8 V10 and the rather sinister black Lamborghini Gallardo LP-560-4 with a new exhaust and a small ECU tune.
As it turns out, the Audi R8 V10 with a supercharger has a power of 800 hp and that is easily more than what you need to beat the Gallardo in a race. But this time, Audi did not just beat the Gallardo – it inseminated it going through the tunnel with all the power at work. We have to ask tough, would it inseminate this one!?
What is especially amazing here is the sight of the Audi R8 just leaving the Gallardo in the dust filmed from the perspective of the latter. Just imagine what the performance says here. This Audi gets 60 in 3 seconds or less for sure. It is supercar fast and it deserves every title you can think of. This is what we need more of. More superchargers.
