The Smart Car received both good and bad reviews. Though this is a tiny and compact car but has been at the forefront of the car industry and can never be left behind when it comes to technology. Before the year ended for 2010, there were leaked renderings of their new creation….guess what! This turned out to be a concept car that they will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show.
The exterior features a compact roadster and this is actually an electric car with a sense of cuteness. It has photovoltaic cells installed on the base of its wind screen, LED headlamps and a honeycomb mesh grille. Right on the rear is a smart badge which stylishly hides a plug-in socket.
The heart of the Forspeed is a 40 bhp electric motor which can be given an additional 7 bhp by a flick of a switch and this is called as its overboost feature. Its powerplant is mounted on its rear and a full charge can let this e-car run a distance of 84 miles or equivalent to 135 km. Top speed is limited to 75 mph (120 km/h).
Unfortunately this is a concept car and Smart boss Dr. Annette Winkler confirmed that they have no intention of bringing this car into production.
