Its name is the Gudfar – Godfather in Norwegian and it is probably the scariest and the baddest Chevrolet Impala you have ever seen. Created and put on the road only days ago, this video shows some of the first passes the Gudfar ever made. If you look closely, one thing is for certain – it is not easy to manage it and keep it straight on the track. Despite massive back drag wheels, the Blown 1963 Impala has some serious problems with power delivery to the back. Sure, this eats up some time at the drag strip, but on the other hand, it provides us with a drag racing spectacle you have to witness.
The driver definitely has to do a lot to keep the thing on the road. After all, dyno run showed that a blown 540ci engine gives out massive 2,000hp to the wheels. This is huge. Making all the power possible is a massive Whipple screw blower pushing a whole lot of air into the intake and improving the combustion process. With all this power, the Gudfar certainly has an edge, but we’re sure its makers will do something to calm down that mad rear end.
Jamond Haug owns the car and he runs it with his brother. This was filmed at the Ozark Raceway Park and at the I29 Dragway during some No Prep Races. These may be the rawest and the best races one could imagine. It is just plain and simple without the clock or anything else. While its suspension and engine setup need more tuning, the fact is that this Impala looks so mean and scary, the competitors should be scared just by looking at it.
We can’t wait to see more of it. It is probably the freshest and the coolest entry onto the drag racing scene this year.
