OK, this is something new! Drag race in reverse. We have seen it before, but here, we are witnessing the race with the newest cars available including the BMW M2, the Honda Civic Type R, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 and the Caterham 620S. All cars are rather incredible, but the cup competition devised by Carwow certainly has some appeal to it, because it is all new and the engine power is not exactly the most important thing which wins drag races. Weight distribution is a key factor here and Honda, despite being among the least powerful here has the most chance of winning thanks to its front wheel drive (well, rear wheel drive in this case) and its engine laying on top of it. Most traction there for sure.
The first round was between the BMW M2 and the Caterham 620S. Both cars are RWD, although the Caterham is a lot lighter than the Beemer. The result is a fairly interesting drag race in reverse. It can be seen that drivers are having a hard time managing the machines and making what they are not supposed to do. Sure, everything would be far more interesting if the course was a bit longer and if we were honored of knowing 0-30 mph acceleration time, cloaked speed and drag race time.
Nevertheless, it is fairly obvious that the Honda Civic Type R has an edge here. It is easily the fastest, although Caterham was close to beating it. Now, we would like to see supercars in a race like this. We remember that Lamborghini had a banner commercial for the Gallardo some time ago. There, they advertised that the Lamborghini top speed is 110 kph (68 mph) in reverse.
