This is the Porsche 911 R and it is the most amazing Porsche since… well, not that long ago as Porsche creates incredible vehicles lately. Nevertheless, this vehicle bowed the recently held Geneva Motor Show 2016 and for a good reason – this is the purest Porsche car enthusiasts are simply amazed by. First of all, the 911 R is based on the same architecture as the 911 GT3 RS. That is a hell of a start. It has a naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine producing incredible 500 hp and a manual transmission. No, we are not joking.
With a weight of only 3021 lbs, the Porsche 911 R is one of the most potent racers Porsche ever conceived. To prove the point will tell you that the 911 R can accelerate to 62 in 3,7 seconds and shift it up rather high at far more than 186 mph. With excellent aerodynamic properties and precision only a purist Porsche can give, this has enough potential to be the ultimate track car.
There is a catch, however. Porsche released its price at $184,900, but we do not have a clue why did they bother at all – the 911 R is a 500 unit strong special edition and every single one of them has been sold months before Porsche even revealed it in Geneva. As for its name, Porsche did not just come up with it by chance. On their YouTube channel Porsche published this sentence – “This car, namely the 911 R, was built in 1967 for use in motorsport. In a limited-edition run of just 23 units.” That really tells us all about the name. Yes, the Porsche 911 R is a magnificent car. We even do not mind these red stripes on it, but we do mind the fact we won’t be getting one, ever.
