The Ford Focus RS has been revealed and it is more amazing than you ever thought it could be. However, during its presentation at the factory in Cologne where the car is produced, Ken Block took the wheel of the prototype version of the car and drove the car as a maniac through the factory where the car is actually produced. Luckily, he did not drive the finished version, but the last prototype (which is basicly the finished thing, just without the color). His driving skills were put to the test in a live show where he drove the car while the journalists sitting in the factory were enjoying watching him do wild things with the car. This was some impressive stuff you could watch in a live stream over the official Ford media site.
Now, we bring you a shortened video right here. More impressive than the video is the Ford Focus RS itself. The bloody thing is powered by a 2,3 liter EcoBoost engine that was stolen from the Mustang. Ford additionally modified cooling, changed the turbocharger and headgasket and made it produce in excess of 320 HP. That is more than the older RS engine produced, but more importantly, the power of the engine is now transferred to all four wheels. With the newly developed All wheel drive system, up to 70 percent of power can be transferred to the rear wheels and up to 100 percent of torque to one rear wheel. The system promises exceptional stability and controllability of the car which means that cornering will be on par with the best vehicles out there, including the Subaru WRX STI and the Audi RS3.
Ken Block demonstrated rather vividly how the Ford Focus RS can be insanely cool by making donuts in front of journalists.
