Welcome the most powerful Diesel SUV in the world. This is Audi SQ7 TDI and it is powered by a diesel engine so powerful it grants it enough pulling power to race a jet – Alpha Jet. Yes, this a SUV who is, up to certain speeds, faster than the magnificent jet. Volkswagen did a lot to improve it to this level. The new four-liter V8 TDI engine inside is the first one in the world with the electrically powered compressor who can spin up to speeds of 70.000 rpm.
Fascinatingly complex system required Audi to integrate the 48-volt system in the car only to feed the EPC with enough power. With this technology, turbo lag is virtually non-existent. The small electric compressor works right at the time when the engine does not provide enough gases to spin up the “normal” turbocharger. Now, the EPC can compress enough air to provide incredible amounts of torque and power even at low rpm’s. This is why the 62 mph mark is achievable at 4,8 seconds while the thing accelerates without any problems all the way to 155 mph. Without electric limiter, It could do more for sure.
Despite getting all this power from the four-liter engine, the Audi SQ7 TDI apparently returns 31.8 miles per gallon which is, if true, incredible, to say the least. Now, we are thinking to see this engine in some other cars – imagine it in the Audi S6 or S7, it would be a blast.
