Audi revealed all new A5 & S5 Coupe in Germany. The first impressions are rather good as the car retained sharp and elegant silhouette with precise shapes giving it the character of a sophisticated coupe. Although it continued in the same vane as its predecessor, 2017 Audi A5 and 2017 Audi S5 are all-new cars. Created on top of modular platform, the A5 is a bit lighter than before (actually, 132 lbs lighter which is not exactly “a bit”). It has stiffer chassis and it is almost 2 inches longer. This equal to more room on the inside and bigger boot, but due to some fine tweaks on the outside it also means the car is far more slippery than before. Drag Coefficient is now at 0,25 Cd so it uses less fuel than ever (apparently, 20 percent less).
Amazingly, the engine power is improved by 20 percent as well. While the A5 has everything from diesel to petrol with the power range from 190hp to 286 hp (for the 3.0 TDI), the S5 received three liter turbocharged V6 with 354 hp. With eight-speed automatic, standard quattro all wheel drive and special sporty equipment, 2017 Audi S5 is capable of acceleration to 62 mph in 4,7 seconds. This is obviously a sports car, although the real monster will be the RS5, but we will have to wait for it at least two years.
What is also new is the infotainment system on the inside, with Virtual Cockpit SIM card integration, all connectivity services you can imagine and then all the safety equipment VW Group has to offer. It is an advanced car, no question about it.
On the outside keen eye will spot LED front lights and LED taillights, as well as numerous decoration pieces including chromed and polished aluminum looking features. It is a neat car and Audi definitely strike gold keeping it conventionally restrained, sharp and sophisticated.
