Mazda have unleashed a new monster that will debut to compete on the tracks on March 26 at the Silverstone tracks in the U.K. They hope that this will be at the forefront of the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship and with the looks of their creation, the MX 5 GT endurance racer will be a tough competition. This beast was developed in collaboration with Jota Sport and they made sure this will catch the eyes of spectators as they have wrapped racer in metallic Spirited Green body color along with Jota Sport livery in orange and gray.
Jota Sport based of Tunbridge Wells spent a lengthy 400 hours in just building the car’s shell. This is 17 times stronger than the required specifications by FIA. Weight reduction was also in their minds and has installed polycarbonate windows and even dropped its shell in acid to further drop the MX 5’s curb weight by 15 kg. Total speed of this new roadster is at 850 kg or equivalent to 1874 lbs.
The MX 5 GT can now produce 275 bhp and this is with the help of its paddle shift, six speed sequential gearbox. 0-60 mph of this racer can be achieved in 3 seconds and top speed is at 160 mph.
