Carl Benz invented the automobile and his wife, Bertha Benz made the first long way journey with it back in the 1800s. Celebrating 130 years since the production of the first automobile, Mercedes-Benz and Daimler created an awesome five-minute video spot in which they resurrect Carl Benz, let him speak some really motivating and exciting talk and then let him go enjoy the prospects of the modern Mercedes-Benz automobiles.
While Mercedes-Benz is clearly most relaxed in its marketing endeavors, we have to pay respect to the actor who portrayed Carl Benz in this short movie. He grasped all the basic elements of Carl Benz philosophy and presented it to us in an appealing and unforgettable way. While the resurrection of Carl Benz may seem a bit like a stretch and lame creation, Daimler’s Marketing team pulled it out fantastically even getting the BMW and Daimler boss Dr. Dieter Zetsche into play.
Mercedes-Benz went all in and even added a bit of fun on its own behalf. At the end of the clip, Carl saw a business card and said to Diether he is not happy all the cards have Daimler written on them and not Mercedes-Benz. Nevertheless, the funny part is perfectly balanced out with the serious, motivating part which is here to teach us that it’s not the politics, internet giants or anything else that will shape our future, we will do it. It is a nice message to convey in the world of today when the car industry is in the midst of the biggest change ever – change of petrol powered cars with electric cars.
