When it was revealed the BMW M4 GTS was the fastest BMW M car of all time. BMW Motorsport limited it to 700 unit production run and they will continue to produce it at the rate of 5 cars per day. This means that seeing two in the wild is not exactly an easy task. What is more, seeing two racing each other is next to impossible. However, thanks to the Spring Event 2016 held somewhere in Germany, two BMW M4 GTS cars made an appearance at the same place and history was made.
During the Spring Event 2016, BMW M4 GTS cars had a go against the Corvette C7, the Mercedes C63 AMG, the BMW M5 F10, the Mercedes-AMG GTS and the Audi RS3 8V. At least we can see these cars in a race in the video. And you know what, the M4 GTS was faster than all of them. As a matter of a fact, we have not seen who actually won, but it seems that the small Beemer really is a tad more ferocious than any other car here – except maybe the AMG GT S.
BMW M4 GTS is quite a remarkable machine. It is a bit lighter, a bit harder and a bit more focused machine compared to the classic BMW M4, but its highlight is the water injected engine. BMW devised a safe system of injecting a fine spray of water into the intake manifold thus cooling the air passing. It is not an all new technology, but it certainly is interesting even at this point in time.
With this and with some other additions, the three-liter TwinPower Turbo engine develops more than 500 hp. That is almost 100 hp more than what anyone gets in the stock BMW M4 engine. The water spray is capable of lowering the air temperature in the intake by 25 degrees which is a substantial amount. Interestingly, the tank for the water is stored at the back in the boot.
