The Japanese are on the move to reach the stylistic perfection of the German, the Italian and the British premier limousines and coupes. Lexus is trying really hard to infuse a bit of sporty pedigree into its vehicles while Infiniti is attempting basically the same but going a step further with the design and they are really developing concept vehicles that look better than anyone thought they could.
The newest addition to their fleet of concept vehicles is the Q60 Concept which is basically a premium mid sized coupe which looks so good it is hard not to think about it like it’s an Italian coupe with the name of Maserati or something similar. It is clear that Infiniti tried to use some of the styling causes from the F1 cars. The front bumper obviously mimics the front spoilers and the large front air intake provides a glimpse of sportiness, the production Q60 will be built upon. Actually, don’t be surprised if the Q60 comes exactly the same into the production form. It is definitely that good.
The car will be officially revealed on 13th January at the NAIAS in Detroit and it will feature a beautifully crafted bespoke interior which will probably be used in the next gen Infiniti vehicles in the same form. One picture we have reveals a two tone interior, a new steering wheel and a rather high central tunnel.
“The Q80 Inspiration was an indication of Infiniti’s future design language. The Q60 Concept is the next step in the journey. The sweeping lines of the Q80 Inspiration gave the Q60 Concept its coupe silhouette and looks while the Formula One-inspired touches from the Q50 Eau Rouge endowed the coupe with its sports personality.” said Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti Executive Design Director.
Even though we have heard some speculation that the Q80 Eau Rouge is almost canceled, it seems that that vehicle provided the stylistic basis for the Q60 Concept.
