We have seen a multitude of awesome drag races over the years, but the ones from Europe where old cars tackle modern machines are definitely the most impressive. This time, we have a chance to see the Volkswagen Golf Mk2 race an Audi R8. Ok, it is the first gen car, it is “only” a V8 version with puny 420 hp and it is rather heavy compared to the Golf, but then again, it is a freaking R8. What happened here really is expected if you are into this Golf. Powered by a VR6 engine modified to insanity, the Golf actually moves around with the power of 620 hp. That is 200 more than what the stock R8 would have. And you can see the results. Golf obliterated the Ingolstadt Machine.
Not only that, the thing went on a rampage and even raced against the newest Lamborghini Huracan. Now, that is the real counterpart. With its V10 pushing out 610 HP and all wheel drive perfectly set up for maximum acceleration, the Huracan is a tough nail to crack.
The VR6 is turbocharged, it channels the power to the front wheels and it became a freaking high 11-second car. This is huge because not a lot of “normal looking” FWD cars can do this. Nevertheless, press play and enjoy the VR6 powered Golf getting some awesome wins.
