We are already in a world where our natural resources are getting scarce and to the sad hearts of petrol heads…oil is one of them. Car manufacturers are well aware of this problem and they are in the race of making fuel efficient cars. Most car buyers are also checking on fuel rating before deciding on a purchase. This may be the reason why the aggressive and sporty looking Ford Focus now has an ECOnetic version.
There is nothing much going on with this Focus and speed freaks need to look in a different direction if they want performance out of the ECOnetic. With a few tweaks added, this model is targeted to be the most fuel efficient in its class.
Some of its aerodynamic styling includes a flat underbody, an active grille shutter and wheels with low drag covers wrapped in low rolling resistance tires.
Power is generated from a TDCi 1.6 liter Duratorq diesel engine and Ford have installed a modified turbocharger, new fuel injectors and an enhanced air cooling system. Other fuel saving technology used is the regenerative braking system and the start\stop function. Output is only seen at 104 bhp but fuel consumption is slated to be below 3.5l\100 km and CO2 emissions is under 95g\km.
