This is the new 2018 BMW 5 series. Yes, it is an all-new car although its looks aren’t exactly revolutionary. Evolutionary is the right term. Following the same principles of the all new BMW cars, the latest 5 series received front lights that touch the edges of the legendary kidney grill. It does look neat and somewhat sophisticated, but we have to say we have been seeing something like this for years on BMW cars.
The BMW 5 series comes with the most advanced architecture in business. It is built upon the carbon fiber-aluminum-steel architecture which considerably lightened the entire car. The new car is up to 220 lbs lighter than before. However, it is more than an inch longer, far roomier on the inside and far more capable compared to any of before. BMW rigged it with advanced adjustable suspension, advanced luxury features on the inside (such as gesture controls) and the most advanced engines BMW has to offer.
At this point, BMW is available as a 520d, 530d, 530i, 530e iPerformance hybrid, 540i and M550i xDrive. All versions are available with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission and in RWD or AWD guise.
One of the most interesting facts about the new M550i is its massive speed. The car can reach 60 mph in about 4 seconds – faster than the latest BMW M5. This is due to advance 462hp engine, perfect Steptronic transmission and exceptional xDrive all-wheel drive system.
BMW will certainly introduce a multitude of different versions in the next few years. We are all waiting for the M5. It should be the most powerful M car to date and the fastest M5 ever. Up until that point, one can choose between the M Sport or the Luxury Line. The names speak for themselves really.
