As far as Drag racing goes, this one is one of those that show where the future is going. Enjoy the prospects of racing a massive SUV with more than 550hp, an exceptionally cool hybrid with more than 360hp and an insane, expensive hot-hatch with almost 370hp engine. These are the heavyweights of today’s world and their names are – the Range Rover Sport, the BMW i8 and the Audi RS3.
Car Magazine from South Africa brought all three cars on an apparently abandoned airfield with the main idea to test them out to the extremes. However, the most important question anyone could ask with three sports cars at their disposal is how would they stack against each other in a Drag race!? Amazing, this was a fair comparison between three cars whose total power exceeding 1200hp.
The heaviest of them all, of course was, the Range Rover Sport, yet it was also the most powerful one with the JLR biggest and most powerful five liter engine in it. The smartest one was the i8 from BMW with many electric motors and a small three cylinder turbocharged petrol engine giving out more than 200hp on its own. The last of the lot was arguably the most amazing hatch of all time – the Audi RS3. With a quattro all wheel drive, 2.5L five cylinder engine and a launch control this one could be the one to win.
Although we will not tell you who won here, we will reveal that the Audi RS3 had a late start here. All in all, this race proved we have something to look for in the future. It will be awesome.
