Mazda MX-5 is the world’s most beloved sports car. It sold in millions and here is a comparison video between the old one and the new one. Carfection will tell us which one is better and why. Now, the Mazda MX-5 is something of a holy grail of sports or wanna-be-sports cars. It is small, low, light, has extremely low center of gravity, low weight, two seats and almost everything inside is manual. At least it was when the first gen car reached the market and stormed it like a hurricane. The main selling points of the car were its affordability, nimbleness and fun drive no other car could provide for the same money. We are sure the new car kept all of that character too, yet it is not exactly cheap-looking or cheap riding at all. Although it has electrically assisted steering, the new Mazda MX-5 certainly is a whole lot faster than the old car. After all, it is motivated by a two liter naturally aspirated four banger developing 155 hp. That is not a lot of power for a sedan or even a hatchback, but a lightweight small convertible makes good with it. Actually, this engine is its top offering. Mazda even has a 1.5-liter engine with less power.
It seems that guys from Carfection liked it quite a bit. The new one is a car that will sell today, but it does retain all that spirit and quirkiness of the original, while it introduces us to a whole set of modern touches such as smart infotainment, electric this and that as well as radically improved safety. All in all, both of these are stunning machines and you should watch this through to see just why.
