Chris Harris of Top Gear had a go in the Ferrari F12tdf and what he found out about the car is frankly amazing. He was lost for words after driving it around the Fiorano track. The car is that good. It is awesome, mesmerizing, vulgar, incredibly fast and fantastically enchanting.
For starters, the Ferrari F12tdf is something like an unchained F12 Berlinetta. It has a bit more powerful engine, a whole lot of less weight (240 lbs less to be exact) and a whole multitude of improvements. First of all, the aero package is far more sophisticated (and active of course) compared to the F12 Berlinetta. The downforce is savage – more than 500 lbs at 124 mph. That is double of that of the F12 Berlinetta. Fascinating.
Now, the most important feature of the new car is actually the technology enabling rear wheel steering. With it, grip levels are dramatically increased. Chris Harris noted that the speed at which this thing is capable of coming through corners is simply astonishing. True, the LaFerrari is a bit faster, but this is a proper weapon on the street – and the track that is.
The V12 inside develops 769hp and it channels the power through a double-clutch gearbox. This one has been quickened by 30 percent at upshifts and by 40 percent at downshifts. Interestingly, Harris noted that driving this car with a manual would probably be impossible. It is that fast, it is that savage, and that dangerous. The performance is rather amazing too. 0-124 mph is reached in 7,9 seconds, while the Top Speed is more than 210 mph. It does not really matter where the speedo stops to count. What it counts is that this thing is sold out – all 799 units.
