Petrol heads get ready to get wild on your imagination! It’s time for another concept car and GM Korea has one piece of brilliance in the name of Chevrolet Miray. This is a hybrid mid electric sports car that debuted at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show. Miray actually means “future” in Korean and this is definitely a creation of high tech madness. This was their symbol to mark Chevrolet’s centennial anniversary.
The exterior design of the Miray was inspired by the 1962 Corvair Super Spyder and the 1963 Monza SS. This features a fluid like body matching it with sharp edges. Its exterior package makes use of carbon panels to reduce weight and have fitted 21 inch wheels at the rear while 20 inches at the front.
There are two electric motors that are mounted at the front to give life on its front axle while a turbocharged four cylinder 1.5 liter engine is placed on the mid rear also powering the back wheels. The 1.6 kWh lithium ion battery pack powers the electric motor and it is recharged through regenerative braking.
One unique feature of the Miray is that it can run on all electric and power from its petrol engine will kick in when power is needed and this is with the help of its quick shifting dual clutch gearbox.
