Goodwood Festival of Speed is a manifestation every gearhead has to visit at least once in a lifetime. All automotive aristocracy gathers there to tackle a simple hill climb and present the novelties in a rather unconventional way. This year, many of the world’s most amazing vehicles turned up with the AMG GT R, the Aston Martin GT12 Roadster and many other being shown for the first time ever. However, everyone was eager to see the Bugatti Chiron on the hill climb and here it is.
The automotive royalty is powered by a V16 engine with 8 liters of capacity. Employing four turbochargers and an intricate cooling system, Bugatti engineers succeeded in giving the car an engine more powerful than in any other car in the world. It develops 1.500hp. All of it is channeled to four wheels providing the Chiron with the thrust no other car can match. Really, the only car that will be able to compete against it is the Koenigsegg Regera and we are still far away from seeing it run to its full potential.
Chiron’s majestic speed is equaled only by the composure and the refinement its engineers provided it with. It really is astonishing to see such a powerful car behaving in a dignified and classy way. What is impressive is that Bugatti does not sound thunderous. It really does not have to as it represents the pinnacle of the car world. If it did, it would sound like Bugatti tried to overdo it.
