BMW is known for making funny, witty and hilarious commercials. The last one they did was actually for their fastest bike – the BMW S1000RR. This two-wheeled monster is capable of reaching some stratospheric speeds really fast. Like 0-62mph in 3 seconds fast. That is, for sure, supercar and superbike territory, so how you could make a commercial good enough for a bike like that. Make a prank, that is how!
BMW rigged the public bus station with sound speakers and installed a “splash” device in the pothole in front of it. The idea is when the bike approaches (actually, when the speakers let out sound like the bike is approaching), the splashing device will activate and splash a bit of water on the tarmac. The people standing at the station will definitely be surprised by it and they will think they missed something. Well, that is the whole point. BMW S1000RR is so fast that if one blink it will miss it.
Back to the bike. This machine is powered by an advanced 999 cc engine. It develops 193hp and generates enough thrust to accelerate the thing to 62 mph in 3 seconds. BMW S1000RR is at 124 mph in 6,87 seconds and 186 mph is touched in 19,1 second. No wonder then about the “blink of an eye thing”. This is not the first time BMW made an awesome commercial for the S1000RR. Back in 2010, they released a video on YouTube titled “The oldest trick in the world”. Go, watch it. It is worth it.
