Two of the most amazing cars of today are the BMW 7 series and the Mercedes-Benz S-class. No question there. But the question is which one is better!? MotorTrend Channel brings us an awesome Head 2 Head test demonstrating the virtues of both cars and showing us what the technology of today is actually capable of.
Right off the bat we may say that the BMW is more advanced in some areas and it is faster, but in areas where it matters- like the luxury and ride comfort, the Mercedes-Benz S550 is still unbeaten. Frankly, the Mercedes-Benz S-class with all of its comfort and exceptional design on the inside is a bit better at being a luxury car. As the duo pointed out, the car is better in almost any measurable way. It is quieter, less jittery, much more luxurious, fantastically stylized and finally, better looking.
All the essence of these cars should be their luxurious pedigree and fantastic technology inside out. However, despite the BMW Carbon Core tech, it seems they went all out when making stuff such as gesture controls, phone connectivity and other. Gimmicks, more or less. The drivetrain is not new at all. And then there is the fact that despite the Carbon Core and all that Carbon badges, the BMW 750i xDrive actually has only 5 percent of the thing in its architecture and it is not even light. It is 80 lbs lighter than the Merc which is not a lot at all.
