A perfect car does not have to be beautiful, does not have to be super expensive, or the fastest. It needs to have a special set of ingredients and it HAS to be built upon on successful predecessors. This is one. This is the 2018 Audi RS3 Sedan – possibly a perfect new car. It is sized as the Audi A4 from 1995 (the best size ever for cars). It has Quattro all-wheel drive (a building block of the most successful Audi rally car ever). Under the bonnet sits a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 400 hp (the most powerful five-cylinder in production today and it has five cylinders because “you”).
No, it does not look beautiful (it looks decent), but then again neither are you but someone loves you. And this thing is lovable. Audi even translated some tech from the most berserk Audi R8 V10 in it. Virtual Cockpit is there, Audi Dynamic Select lets you pick the perfect driving mode. One of the modes actually makes the car a heaven for drifting. It has drift mode similar to that of the Ford Focus RS, but we are sure the differential won’t get hot here after hooning.
With relatively low weight, massive 400hp and fantastic tech including adjustable suspension, the RS3 Sedan can accelerate to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds. Without a limiter, it will reach fantastic 174 mph.
Sure, this is only a compact car based on the modular platform the Golf comes from, but the sheer lunacy Audi injected in it defies expectations and proves fun cars have to have much, much more than just a lot of power and proper tech. They need soul and soul come from successful history. Well done Audi.
